Dear Thematic Philately friends!
As you can see, our website is totally new, since most FIP Commissions have decided to transfer their sites onto the FIP server. I think this was the right move and I trust you will enjoy the new layout and its contents. Many thanks to our webmaster Charles Bromser for arranging it!
The Covid-19 pandemic has on the one hand severely affected philatlic exhibitions with several of them becoming virtual and being on the web. On the other hand, our free time has been dedicated to improve our exhibits and to create new ones. The pandemic has also forced the FIP to delay its Congress to 2022 and therefore the FIP Board and all Commission Bureaus have stayed in charge for an extra two years.
Starting with NOTOS 2021 in Athens the traditional exhibitions seem to be back and a busy period of events is in front of us. I look very much forward to this, since socialising is a must in our hobby.
Thematic philately exhibits have always been a strong point in exhibitions and I trust that it will be the same also in the next years. To achieve this we need new exhibitors and new exhibits. I urge therefore all THC delegates to actively advertise our hobby, further educate existing exhibitors and attract new ones! I wish all of you a lot of satisfaction with Thematic philately!
Peter Suhadolc, Thematic Philately Commission Chairperson,
Since 2020 exhibitions across the world have either been cancelled or postponed due to the COVID - 19 pandemic. Organised philately soon introduced virtual exhibitions, where exhibitors upload exhibits for the Organising Committee. The exhibits then get judged via Zoom meetings. The FIP too now recognises the results of many of these exhibitions.
Some recent exhibitions with a Thematic Class were:
Argentina, FILA LOMAS 2021: https://cefiloza.blogspot.com/p/expocefiloza2021.html, scroll down to Catalogo Y Colecciones and goto 070 Temática then you can see the exhibits
Slovenia, Deseto Okno 2021: https://fzs.si/desetookno-kranj-2021/ just click on an exhibit’s title then scroll down and you can see the exhibit.
